# Pages

> Add pages to a site, set their paths, meta tags, social cards, indexing and password.

A site is a set of pages under one address. The home page is the page at `/`. The site page at `app.getsite.ai/sites/<siteId>` shows its status, a launch checklist until the first publish, and the pages grid.

## Add a page

Only the home page is built when you create a site. Add the rest from **Add page** on the site page:

* **Generate with AI**: describe the page. GetSite suggests a path, name and description you can edit. **Match homepage design closely** copies the header, navigation and footer from the home page and only generates the main content. Pick a model and go. Costs 20 credits (40 on Fable 5.1). Added pages are generated with stock photos, not AI images.
* **Add empty page**: a blank page at a path. Free. Fill it in the editor or with the AI chat.

New pages are indexable and in the sitemap by default.

## Paths

Lowercase letters, digits, hyphens and slashes. `/about`, `/services/roofing`. Trailing slashes are dropped. `/api`, `/admin`, `/assets`, `/static` and `/.well-known` are reserved. Two pages on one site cannot share a path.

Pages are listed by path. There is no reordering. To make another page the home page, change the current home page's path away from `/`, then change the other page's path to `/`.

## Page states and actions

A page is **Empty** until it has been generated, **Draft** until it is published, **Live** once published, and **Unpublished** when its current version differs from the live one. An empty page you fill in by hand keeps the Empty label and has no Publish button on its card; publish it from the editor toolbar.

Each card shows **Publish** (**Republish** if it was published before) and **Edit** while there are unpublished changes, otherwise **Edit** and **Preview**, plus a menu:

| | |
| - | - |
| **Open live URL** | The published page |
| **Change path** | Moves the page to a new path. Republish afterwards: until you do, the canonical URL, sitemap entry, social-card URL and **Open live URL** still use the old path. Add a redirect from the old path yourself under [SEO & Indexing → Redirects](/build/site-settings#seo--indexing) |
| **Duplicate** | Copies the page into the same site at `<path>-copy`. On a live site the copy is reachable at that path right away, even though its card says Draft |
| **Delete page** | Removes the page and its versions. Not reversible from the app |

Deleting the last page deletes the site. Publishing a page on a site that is already live needs no setup; it goes live at its path on the site's address.

## Page settings

Open the editor and click **Settings** in the toolbar.

### Meta Tags

| Field | Notes |
| - | - |
| Title | Also the page name. Counter at 60, hard limit 120 |
| Description | Counter at 160, limit 300 |
| Keywords | Comma-separated |
| Canonical URL | Editable once the page is published |

Title, Description and Keywords each have a **Generate** button that writes the field with AI for free.

### Social

Separate cards for **Facebook** (Open Graph) and **Twitter (X)**. Each has an enable switch, off by default, plus title, description and image. Defaults are the page title, the meta description and a 1200×630 screenshot of the page. Tags are only injected when the card is enabled.

### Forms

Forms detected on this page from their submissions, with a link to [Forms](/features/forms).

### A/B Tests

Experiments on this page with their status, and a shortcut to create one. Developer plan and above. See [A/B tests](/features/experiments).

### Indexing, genesis, password

* **Indexing**: per-page **Search indexing** and **Sitemap** switches. They apply while the matching site-wide switch is on; a site set to hidden or without a sitemap hides every page.
* **Genesis**: the prompt the page was built from and the template or image it came from. **Regenerate page** opens the new-site prompt prefilled with them; it builds a new site at the usual cost and does not replace this page.
* **Password protection**: a username and password. Visitors get a browser login prompt (HTTP Basic auth). It protects the page HTML, not its CSS and JS files.
* **Delete page**.

## Design recommendations

On the Maker plan and above, a site with two or more published pages gets a daily AI design review covering up to 10 pages. The **Design recommendations** card on the site page lists site-wide consistency issues and per-page issues by severity. **Open page editor** opens the editor with the fix as the prompt. It runs again only after a published page changes. Free.
